How To Use This Course

How to use this course:

The Accountabili-Buddy Certification is a structured, instructor-guided training program. It is designed to develop the judgment, communication skills, and professional reasoning required to provide effective accountability support through text-based conversations.

Each stage builds upon the skills developed in the previous stage. Complete the training in the order presented.

Before you begin:

Start with the Course Essential Materials. These provide the shared knowledge base used throughout the certification:

  • Student Case Library
  • Quick Reference Sheets

Keep these materials available throughout the training. Individual Stages will direct you to the specific sections, cases, and reference sheets required for that part of the course.

Completing each stage:

Complete Stages 1–6 in order. Within each Stage, work through the materials in the sequence shown on the Stage page.

A Stage may include:

  1. Assigned instructional reading
  2. Workbooks
  3. Skill-specific drills
  4. Response-writing exercises
  5. Conversation or case simulations
  6. Formal assessment

Do not begin with the assessment. The workbooks, drills, and simulations are designed to prepare you for it.

How to approach the work:

The purpose of the training is not simply to identify the correct label or produce an acceptable-sounding response. Your work must demonstrate how you reached your conclusion.

Throughout the course, you will be expected to:

  • Use the information actually available
  • Separate observation from interpretation
  • Identify what remains unknown
  • Consider plausible alternative explanations
  • Match the response to the actual accountability task
  • Preserve the client’s ownership of their decisions
  • Write responses that are clear, proportionate, and natural
  • Update your reasoning when new evidence becomes available
  • Remain within the Accountabili-Buddy role

Complete all exercises independently before reviewing instructor feedback or answer materials.

Instructor review:

Your instructor will review submitted work, evaluate your reasoning, and provide feedback when a skill requires further development.

Additional practice or remediation may be assigned before you move forward or complete certification. Remediation is part of the competency-development process and is intended to address specific skill gaps.

Certification:

After completing all six Stages and their required assessments, you will complete the final Certification Assessment.

Certification is awarded based on demonstrated competence across the complete Accountabili-Buddy role—not course participation alone.
